Marikina Celebrates its 36th Church Anniversary

The Marikina locale of Pentecostal Missionary CHURCH of CHRIST (4th Watch) celebrated its 36th Church Anniversary on September 28, 2008. The day-long celebration started with the Sunday School presided by Pastor Let Ferriol. The Thanksgiving and Worship Service soon followed with Apostle Arsenio Ferriol as speaker.

This recent milestone is certainly something to be proud of - more than three decades characterized by service and dedication unto the Lord. It was also in the same period that the church experienced God’s abundant blessings.

This is the church that started from humble beginnings. Its first service hall could hardly be called such. It easily became flooded whenever it rained. During those years of struggle, it was proclaimed by the Apostle that they would soon move into a bigger, better place. It was soon fulfilled. As the years passed, the church building was built and expanded, resulting in the present-day church building.

On the highly-anticipated day, the whole building was filled by worshippers. Seating arrangements were made in the different floors the day before to accommodate the expected huge turnout. The attendance totaled 5,200. The bulk consisted of brethren and visitors coming from Marikina, with the remainder from the different extension churches from adjacent places. The message on the service was focused on the theme, “Bountiful Blessings Leading to Thanksgiving,” taken from Colossians 2:7. Apostle Ferriol exhorted the congregation to always give thanks to the Lord. He also gave a recollection of the formative years of the church. The power of God’s Word was evident once again with the 300 visitors who received Christ as their Savior and were baptized after the worship service.

The evening was reserved for the premier of the musical play, “Hasik.” Many returned with visitors in tow, to watch the eagerly anticipated play. The auditorium was filled once more as the lights dimmed signaling the start of the first act of the play.

As the day ended, the whole locale was happy with the success of the activities held. The perseverance displayed in month-long prayer marathons preceding the anniversary was surely rewarded. Also part of the preparation was the three-day spiritual and doctrinal empowerment. With the success given by God in the past, the Marikina locale is eagerly looking to what God has in store in the future.
