Sportsmanship Rules MBS Foundation Week

In order to produce tough and quality ministers of the gospel, the Maranatha Bible School is presently training and educating their students not only in spiritual but also in physical aspects as well. In fact, last February 12-14, Associate in theology and Bible students in Marikina City gathered as they held their annual MBS Foundation Week reaching its 39th year with success. The event was inspired with the Epistle of Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 4:8, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come”.

Choosing a suitable place, again, Marikina Sports Center hosted the event offering their bleachers, courts and field for the activities.

This year, the students were divided into eight competing teams namely Team Elijah, Team Moses, Team Noah, Team Peter, Team Paul, Team Abraham, Team Daniel and Team Jacob.

Day 1

It all started with a parade. Followed by the showcase of yell wherein the participating teams have given their full effort to encourage, boost and uplift the dignity of their team. Track and Field, Obstacle race, thug of war and the most awaited ball games were also initiated on the first day.

Day 2

The second day turned out to be the battle of the brains. The poets and essay writers competed in literary contests while the masters of chess fought with time limit rules. To prove one’s physical strength, arm wrestling was also conducted this day. At night, the showcase of song composition contest took place.

Day 3

Wearing their best formal outfits, the rush of attendees filled the PMCC auditorium for the Awards Night. Various awards were given to the participants who showed exemplary performance in their respective events. For the over-all ranking, Team Moses got 5th place while Team Elijah got 4th place. All cheered as the first and second runner up awards went to Team Paul and Team Peter. Team Jacob was awarded as this year’s champion.

They were blessed for having Apostle Arsenio Ferriol, Goodman of the House, for delivering the message of God.

Staffs and students have enjoyed the Foundation Week as it marks another history of success in the Maranatha Bible School. They are not just physically energized but by the messages of God brought by His sent one, their spirituality grew much as well. (B. Sico)
